Three things that stand out about me (I need to toot my horn from time to time):
I like to understand and make sense of things. I also have good ideas. My Lessons Project is one of my ideas/projects that stand out. Just aggregating the various lessons was good.
The statistics papers I had out there were the most popular. I excel at statistics.
I am accomplished at research. I have really good papers out there. I am also known for some good research ideas.
My post yesterday mentioned a red and white flutophone. The blog shows a lot of my background (There is a lot of ME. Some would say it stinks of Fahmeena Odetta Moore). There is a photo of the dorm at UG (https://fmooresignatureassignment3.blogspot.com/2016/08/rewrite.html), a photo of the presentation on Guyana for my church's International Day (https://fmooresignatureassignment3.blogspot.com/2016/08/working-despite-issues.html), and so on. Incidentally, my Research Methods course includes a lot of economics and IT. I used knowledge gained at UG. That was a good course!! I enjoyed it.
Note: UG refers to the University of Guyana rather than the University of Georgia in the US.
When I got to the PhD level, I completed my first research courses - such as Research Methods and Qualitative Research. I also read a ton of published (research) papers - papers that provided answers to specific questions as well as papers that provided new knowledge to the field. It gave me a new appreciation for research. I did prepare research papers during my undergraduate and graduate studies (for example, a final research paper to complete my MS in Finance degree), but I did not complete formal training on research during those years. I am quite positive research is my calling. When I was young, I asked a lot of questions (I was inquisitive). I liked to learn new things and understand how things work or function.
Just recently, I got to thinking about research and my research career. I like that I am into research - I prepare research papers, I conduct business research, and so on. I like that staying objective and impartial is easy for me especially since I don't have a lot of "connections." It is not much of an issue to write the conflict of interest statements required for research. I can fill a Research Professor position at a later time. I need to think about this some more.
I was not aware that researchers are turning to crowdfunding to fund their research. (This article provided the information that researchers are gathering donations from the general public to fund their research: https://www.nature.com/nature-index/news/how-to-crowdfund-your-research-science-experiment-grant). It is a great idea, but I know some people "look down" on those who ask friends and the general public for funds for a personal or professional reason. I am not certain I want to join in this funding trend. I will continue trying for grants.

I used the poll feature in LinkedIn to pose a question for users/individuals all over the world some minutes ago. It is amazing what you can do with a computer and an internet connection. I hope I get a lot of responses.
I consider it preliminary work for research.
I stopped updating my food blog about 5 years ago. The main purpose of the blog was to track my food intake for weight loss. I enjoyed updating the blog, but found that I was including information about my PhD assignments, food background, and so on. I started a project to combine the information, including information captured in other accounts, in one place.
This blog (Inside Fahmeena Odetta's Head) is the "one place" that combines information I posted in various places in the past.
The food blog provided many benefits. In addition to assisting with my weight loss, it was used for "research." For example, I experimented with account setup and wrote about my experience in the following articles:

I used a lot of publicly available information on individuals for my Lessons Project. I did not contact all the individuals for additional data. I did contact some for comment. I apologize for any negative impacts tothose individuals. There are sometimes unauthorized biographies.
I selected individuals that were different - from different cultures, and so on that achieved much. There are LinkedIn articles on each person selected.
I encourage everyone to look at the information out there and make use of it in interesting ways. Ask the right questions, notice inconsistencies, and so on.
I thank my family for support.
My PhD paper on how website design affects customer/consumer complaints touched on pain during shopping. That was surprising! I didn't think of the paper when I saw the call for research on pain and posted about it (link to post: https://fahmeenaodetta.blogspot.com/2023/06/the-topic-pain.html). There really is a need for research in this area.

Yesterday's post on the use of parks for Fourth of July celebrations got me thinking about different parks I visited in the U.S. I am not a frequent park user/visitor but I have visited a lot of small recreational parks over the years. I was a part of quite a few outings/events at parks, including church-related events and school-related events. I am yet to visit national parks such as Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon National Park.
I also recalled my experience at Bryant Park in NY years ago. It was a difficult situation, but some good came out of it. I got an idea for a project on cell phone privacy tradeoffs while at the park. It is included in the Summary section of my LinkedIn research profile here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/fahmeenaodetta.
There were likely lots of posts on social media from parks across the U.S. yesterday. Such posts are being used in research. I found an interesting journal article that used Twitter posts by individuals while at a park in NY. The research question is very interesting: "Will people’s sentiment towards a place be more positive when they are in New York City parks as compared to their sentiment when they are in other places?" The topic in the recent call for papers by the Journal of Business Research (“No Pain No Gain”: Understanding and Applications of Pain in Marketing Scholarship & Practice) is very interesting! Some of the questions papers can address include: (1) How do different types of pain (e.g., physical, psychological, mental or emotional) affect consumption? (2) What is the meaning of pain in a digital world? (3) Are there different types of consumers that could be receptive, prone or averse to pain and what are their characteristics? (4) When and why does the creation painful psychological obstacles (e.g., long lines or waiting lists) or outright refusal to sell a coveted item enhances customers’ feelings of bitter satisfaction and consumer motivation to own the desired item? (5) How can pain affect, explain or facilitate other unconventional consumption practices?, and (6) Why are consumers attracted by the pain of others? I think it will be a very informative and interesting special issue.

I know people have different levels of pain tolerance - some people could handle more pain than others. I imagine a person's pain tolerance affects whether he/she is averse or receptive to pain. My guess is that a lot of consumers are averse to pain. I believe people do not want to feel pain especially when shopping or working or when on vacation. Pain is distracting. I am curious about how different types of pain affect decision-making and consumption.
I cannot wait for the special issue!
I returned to my publishing work today. I am still catching up ("getting caught up") on my projects/work.
I needed to make a small change to a paper I submitted so it would be forwarded to the editor/reviewers. I made the change today. I received the email about the change in late February.

A lot of people use blogs to capture important information/details in their lives or just to keep track of their activities. Blogs are good for this. However, in my opinion, blogs are not the best option for some types of tracking. An example is the tracking of boards/categories created in my main Pinterest profile Pinterest.com/fahmeenaodetta. I tracked creation of the boards in a Google Docs document (shared document that has a single contributor). The document includes a list of the boards and shows screenshots with other important details on the boards. On my Pinterest profile…..
I enjoyed creating that profile. I gave the boards creative titles. It involved research. Some of the board titles are complex. An example is the ‘Say Cheese’ board. ‘Say Cheese’ is usually associated with taking photographs. My Pinterest board includes information on cheeses. I have an interesting cheese history/background.
I recall all sort of things related to cheese. Fromage is French for cheese. In my high school French class, we learned a song about wine and cheese: “Le vin de ma tante est sur la table de mon oncle, Le fromage de mon oncle est sur la table de ma tante…” The teacher required us to prepare a new verse to go along with the song.
And like links in a chain, I recall that my high school French teacher organized a run to the David Rose School for handicapped children (for a good cause).
I worked on / updated my ORCID profile a short while ago. It is a work-in-progress.
Currently, the main information in the profile includes a summary and my education (degrees/diplomas). Here is a challenge: If you had only my current ORCID profile and my papers to review, could you guess my experience or employment history?

I just finished a short blurb (summary) of my background to submit with my papers/manuscripts for publishing.
Here it is:
Fahmeena Odetta Moore is close to completing a PhD at Northcentral University. Her research interests include technology vs. employment decisions, usability for decision-making, achieving successful outcomes, and new and innovative uses of social media. She has taken an interdisciplinary approach in her papers. She is now working on publishing some of her papers in academic journals. Ms. Moore has a BA/Analyst background. She has worked in the IT Analyst role supporting organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
I think I did a good job summarizing the information contained in my LinkedIn research profile (I updated the profile recently). I did not want to include the exact same research areas/topics.

Today I am still thinking of my research experience.
I prepared final research papers to complete my bachelor's and MSF degrees. This experience is not shown in the LinkedIn profile.
There is much research involved in the job of a Business Analyst (IT BA). I recall a project I worked on at one company that involved correcting issues associated with error messages. There was a lot of research involved. I even looked at error messages across the application to understand how errors were handled in different areas and to get a "feel" for how messages were worded. I wanted my solution to "fit in."
My BA experience is included in my main (another) LinkedIn profile. Maybe I should add a sentence or two (in the LinkedIn research profile) on my research duties as a BA. Or maybe it is already known.
After my post yesterday, I decided to update my LinkedIn research profile. Screenshots of the updated profile are included below. I now have to work on the article for Mental Illness Awareness Week.
I am slower this week because of a slow internet connection at home. Websites are taking much longer to load. It takes a long time to make updates.
