Objects I Cannot Live Without

Responding to the Wordpress Daily Writing Prompt for today 3/3/2024:

Three objects I cannot live without include: my glasses; utensils, especially a drinking glass; and a mobile phone or tablet. I need my glasses to see properly. I wear my glasses every day. I need a drinking glass to drink water, which is essential for life. The other utensils are for eating meals for sustenance. Finally, I need a mobile phone/tablet to stay connected to people, including people I may need in an emergency. The phone/tablet will also keep me updated on current events. Further, I could read the Bible on the phone/tablet.

Fruit Drink

 A few days ago, I saw that the WordPress Prompt for the Day was a question on the best drink. I am responding now.

When I think of drink I think of fruit. I eat a lot of fruit. A significant percentage of those fruits make really good drink. The top fruits for drink are: passion fruit, plum, golden apple, guava, Caribbean cherry, citrus fruits such as grapefruit, and carambola (five-finger). The drink is made by extracting the flavor/juice from the fruit then adding sugar and water. 

Did you know that some fruits are never used to make drink? Some are avocado (pear), kukrit, banana, and starapple.

Title for My Story

The WordPress prompt for today: If there was a biography about you, what would the title be? (https://wordpress.com/tag/dailyprompt-1848)

My response:

There was a show called Biography on A&E television. I enjoyed watching that show (it probably still airs on tv). From that show, I learned a lot about prominent people and appreciated learning about their background and struggles. Some of the backgrounds were a complete surprise.

In addition to the Biography show, there was a segment on one of the nightly news programs that selected a person at random and reported on something significant or important in that person’s life.

I have written quite a lot about my background and experiences in my blog Inside Fahmeena Odetta’s Head (https://fahmeenaodetta.blogspot.com). Today, I wrote about my thoughts on love. I believe my story should be called: A Story of Outstanding Preparation, Appropriate Perseverance, and A Different Kind of Love. Maybe I’ll have a more outstanding thought tomorrow.

Hard Work

After seeing the Wordpress prompt for today (10/1/2023), I decided to work on a quick response.

My response:

I always expect to produce a good paper after hard work. The hard work involves understanding key concepts, looking at the problem from different perspectives, developing an argument, explaining my understanding in an effective manner. I usually feel good after I produce/prepare a good paper.

I like to take it step by step. There are usually key steps involved in preparing anything. Keys steps are important for success. I like to use my background so that there is a lot of “me” in the project or paper (my information). Then I can say that my stamp is on it. There is a lot of my understanding and “wisdom” involved. 

The hard work is important when preparing a paper or working on a project. There is a saying where I am from that when you put in the hard work, it is yours for all eternity. It is essentially saying you will not lose it easily or it cannot be easily taken away from you – no ‘easy come easy go.’

Project

Daily prompt question:

What is a word you feel that too many people use?

My response:

Project is overused (not necessarily a bad thing). There are projects at the country level, organization level, and personal level; projects by different types of professionals (IT professionals, economics professionals, and so on); and projects completed by executives, managers, individuals, and students. I worked on different types of projects at different organizations. I completed a personal research project. I completed projects as part of the requirements for a pass at the GCE A-Level Statistics examinations. I also completed projects at the O-Level (for Computer Studies).

Wish For Every Day

It is another day, another time to practice writing. My response to today’s Wordpress prompt….

Each day would be better if I spent more time with family and friends enjoying life and creating new memories. It would be like attending one of the events/gatherings my family has – such as birthday parties and graduations – every day. Over the years, I attended those events when I can but I missed a lot. Sometimes family and friends “take the backseat” because I am busy with a project at work or I need to spend extra time working on something that is very important. Even on some Saturdays, I worked on important, work-related tasks. I have gotten better at work-life balance.

Daily Prompt on Accident

Have you ever been in an automobile accident?

I was in an automobile accident a few months ago. The accident occurred in front of a shopping center (strip mall) in a fairly nice neighborhood. I was driving by the shopping center. A guy in a red vehicle was leaving the shopping center and failed to stop before making a right turn onto the street. I saw what he did so I honked my horn to get his attention. I even tried to swerve away from his vehicle. Sadly, the vehicles collided but it was not as bad as it could have been. Swerving to the right prevented a more serious accident that would have involved the body of my vehicle.

After the accident, we thought my vehicle had only minor issues. But, boy, were we wrong! After driving for several minutes, I had problems with my steering. I almost ran off the road.
