Kukrit

I thought of the kukrit and just started writing...

The kukrit is not considered as essential as the apple

The fruit is also not substantial

It is small and it is not filling as it does not provide a lot of stuff to eat

Just like the awara.

It is not to be ignored, however

It is not orange like the awara, but it is special

The head has a brownish leaf-like cover, a pattern

The rest of the fruit a brown color and pointed at the bottom

It reminds of the acorn from the Ice Age movie.

I like that it is somewhat milky

It grows on a palm tree like the awara

It is not useful for oil like the awara, however.

Fufu

Fufu, fufu, fufu

I recall some delicious fufu meals in Linden, Guyana

There was the plantain fufu typically on Sunday

I thought I ate it with fish stew only

The plantain like dumpling, an island in the stew water

I assisted to make it at least once, I am certain that I did

I recall the mortar and pestle used to make the dish

The mortar a rounded hole in a small block of wood that reminds me of a stump

With my right hand, I pounded the plantain until it was rubber-like.

Memories

The Road of Memories (of Early Childhood)

I walked along the road to school with my mom

She taught me the song Morning Has Broken along the path

When events led to a new school, I needed to take the road to join a bus

I frequently ran out of steam along the road to catch the bus

The road I took to neighbors to deliver a message or attend a party

The road used as the ground for a cricket match that I watched from the verandah

The road I took to Sunday School a few times
