Good afternoon from Linden, Guyana! I am in the mood for some salt and vinegar potato chips. I think the chips will make me feel better. I got sick today after eating food.

Usability - More explanation
Usability is a challenging topic and there are outstanding, capable professionals in the field (See my post on renowned usability expert J. ...
I completed 11 signature assignments - significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. Cricket
Games lead to more tourists. Guyana is benefiting from cricket. I am curious about the country of origin of the tourists. Could it be that most of the tourists are from the Caribbean?

Travel
This is good information. Travel seems to be popular again across the US. It seems that no one is thinking of COVID. I bet it will triple for the Paris Olympics.

Lots of rain; Kaieteur Falls
Over the last 3-4 weeks, we have had rain just about every day in Linden. In fact, it has been raining a lot all over the country. Because of the rain, Kaieteur Falls is back to the "fullness" it is known for - with lots and lots of water gushing towards the cliff and falling hundreds of feet below. (See a reel showing the Falls: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/5qGr8wKGhXkk2fM8/?mibextid=oFDknk). In the recent past, there were complaints that the Falls was just a trickle.
At some point, I want to be one of the visitors to Kaieteur Falls. I have actually never seen the Falls in person. I am told that the Falls is truly majestic.

Guyanese Treats
I am currently vacationing in Linden, Guyana and I enjoy lots of Guyanese treats. Some include: fresh coconut water, sugar cane, salara, tennis roll and cheese, cross buns, and black cake. These are all foods I enjoyed as a little girl in Guyana and are not quite the same or just not available in Maryland. I enjoy the fruits in Guyana too.

Megabus
Good afternoon from Linden, Guyana! I just read a surprising news story on Megabus. It was reported that the owner of Megabus has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Apparently, the company has been struggling financially in recent years due to a decline in ridership.
I rode Megabus quite a lot in past years. My longest trip was the ride from Washington, DC to Gainesville, FL (with a transfer in Atlanta, GA). It was a nice ride. I recall that I was a little afraid to ride at the top level of the 2 level bus. I rode the bus for about 7 hours.
I know Megabus is fierce competition for Greyhound. Megabus is known for low fares. Hopefully, Megabus remains a low-cost transportation provider.

Trending
Interesting...both 'God is the Greatest' and 'Father God' are trending on Twitter/X. I am not certain whether the trending information is dependent on the country/region.
Bible Verses
The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.
- Psalm 118:14 (NIV)
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with song I praise him.
- Psalm 28:7 (NIV)
Doing Well
Good morning from Linden, Guyana! I am grateful that I am alive and well this morning. I am grateful that I can walk without the need for crutches or other support. I am grateful for a lot more things.
I remember how scared I was of COVID a few years back. COVID affected a lot of people and I did not want to be one of the affected people. I stayed indoors a lot. I did not get COVID but had to deal with other health issues. I am happy I am alive. I thank God that my health improved and I am doing well.
I am very happy that COVID is not much of an issue these days. I thought it would have been a major issue for the next decade. Everything seems to be back to normal.

Origami
Good afternoon from Linden, Guyana! I am almost finished with a task I needed to complete. I am steadily making progress with my tasks.
I am remembering the planes and boats I knew how to make from paper when I was a little girl. It was just something children learned to do. I recall that boys liked to make planes from paper and fly them around the classroom. Once, my cousin made a paper ring from a dollar bill. I was very impressed. A lot of children learn origami (making paper planes, paper boats, paper flowers, and so on) in school in Guyana.
It has been over 20 years since I made paper planes and boats. I don't recall how to do any of it.

Entertaining Myself
It is a rainy Saturday in Linden. I don't watch much tv. I am entertaining myself in Facebook - there are lots of interesting things to see and read. One of the videos I just watched of a street in San Francisco was very interesting (link: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/D8769FhSF8g9evkk/?mibextid=oFDknk). The video showed a rider riding his bicycle in the small space between a rail car/train and bus. That was difficult to watch as it is so risky. Some people are riskier than others.

Noise
Good morning from Linden, Guyana!
It is Monday morning already! The weekend went by rather quickly. It is a bit more noisy than usual. I am hearing hammering and other construction sounds from a neighbor's house. He must be having work done on his house. Thankfully, it is not overly noisy. I can still concentrate.
I also had to deal with construction noise in the U.S. Here is one of my previous posts on construction noise: https://fahmeenaodetta.blogspot.com/2024/01/update_4.html.
