Work on paper continues

The paper I am improving is a quantitative paper that tests a minor theory that higher compensation leads to higher work performance. I am in the process of looking into other theories on compensation and work performance. I started looking at the available research. I remember there was a lot of research in this area. To publish a paper, I will need to come up with new ideas. I would like to publish a qualitative paper that builds on the ideas in my quantitative paper - that staff that contribute significantly to some important activity in the work environment should be highly compensated so they are very motivated and perform well on the job. Compensation is important to work performance. 

I remember my paper on baseball salaries (compensation). That paper will be very useful. Sections from my baseball paper are included below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Work on paper

In my last post, I thought of working on a new paper for publishing. Many, many months ago, I was working on improving school papers so that they could be published in academic journals. I will continue this work. I selected a paper on compensation and employee performance to improve. It is a topic I am interested in and I will work on improving that paper for publishing.

I prepared the paper for a Research Methods course I completed many years ago. It was one of several papers focused on the hand hygiene area. It was the paper just before the signature assignment - an earlier paper that led up to the signature assignment. I started the process. I read the paper, pulled up information on the paper from the blog for the course (https://fmooresignatureassignment3.blogspot.com/2016/08/assignment-9-submitted.html), and so on.

I already improved the signature assignment for this Research Methods course. I am very pleased with how it turned out. It is available as a preprint in ResearchGate.

Update

 I can't believe it is Sunday already. The week went by in a jiffy. I had a cup of tea. It is one of those days. I have body aches. I feel a little weird. I feel like listening to music. It will assist in my recovery. Sometimes I am bored and have the urge to work on papers. Maybe I will start again soon. It will be at a slower pace though. My eye is better but I have issues.

Admirable Professions

 Today's Wordpress writing prompt: What profession do you admire most and why?

My response:

I thought of professors right away. I admire the work professors do. I hope to be a professor one day. The motivation project I prepared for my PhD program provided examples of professors that do good work and similar positions I would like to fill.

I do admire other professions such as doctors, police officers, and people in international affairs. Doctors are in the healing business. They help people to live better lives. Police officers help people to live more law-abiding lives. They maintain order in society. Both of these professions are needed and important. 

Professions are admirable but the more I think about it, the people in the positions also have something to do with it. When the right person is in a job, the job he/she does rises to another level. For example, the person may interact better with individuals.

People should enter professions that are a good match for them.

Day Out

 Today, I was at Golden Corral again. Just like last time, I was there with my father for a father-daughter day out. Again, I enjoyed my time at the restaurant.

I wanted to enjoy the food there but didn't want to eat too much. There were a lot of food options/offerings - fish, chicken, meatloaf, vegetables, cakes, pies, ice cream, and a lot more. I selected a small fraction of the options from the buffet.

My first plate of food had chicken and a few more items. After finishing my first plate and putting it aside, I moved on to plate 2 - a plate half-filled with macaroni and cheese and 4 other small items (shown below).

I had some delicious steak from my father.

I will complete the customer experience survey on the bill. It is essentially a customer review of the restaurant.

In The News

 The economy may be taking a turn. News reports indicate that applications for unemployment benefits are higher than normal. Tough times may be ahead.
